MSL5030 SOLARIS 8 SCSI CARD X6758A
I am trying to connect an MSL5030 to a sun V480 with Solaris 8. As controller I am using the SUN PCI card X6758A, the drivers of this card + patcheswhich aren't included in de standard version of solaris are installed.
But my drive still aren't recognized.
I'am even not sure that my card is recognized by the operating system
Any ideas
Migrating to hpux is not an option

Re: MSL5030 SOLARIS 8 SCSI CARD X6758A
If you bring the server down, and at the firmware prompt, issue a "showdevs" command (I think that's what it is... check you docs if it doesn't work), it should show you all the hardware devices that the computer detects. Your SCSI card should be listed somewhere in there if it's recognized by the system.
To scan the SCSI busses for devices, use "probe-scsi-all" (note that you need to do a "reset-all" first).
OK - I just looked up your SCSI card on Sun's website - that's a Differential SCSI card (HVD). You don't say what your MSL is, but I would bet it's LVD - most are.
If this is the case, then that's your problem - your SCSI card is not compatible with the library.
I think you need an X6540A adapter... but Sun's website product information is unclear.
Good luck,
Vince

No matter where you go, there you are.
