MSL5030 - change Ultrium drive
Hi,
We want to buy a renew MSL5030 with one (or two) Ultrium 230 drives. We already have two external HP Ultrium 460 drives, so is it possible to change the drives or must we buy the 460 upgrade kid? What's with the warranty?
Thanks,
Hubertus

Re: MSL5030 - change Ultrium drive
Hmmm,
that means that the drives are incompatible?
I can't open the hotplug canister and the external drive cage and change the drives?

Re: MSL5030 - change Ultrium drive
Standalone drives use a different version of firmrware than a library drive. As an example, the eject distance differs between the two drive applications. You cannot change firmware from one personality to another, so that precludes you from trying to convert the drives.
The journey IS the reward.
