I have an MSL6000 model Tape Library, which I am trying to extract error logs from the console.
However, the port labelled "RS-232" and connected to my Laptop COM1 is not responding. The documentation for the library does not specify flow control or Baud Rate, so I have tried all reasonable combinations (with no luck). I know the cable and hyperterminal works cos I tried it on the Fibre Routers.
Anyone know the actual settings for this connection? Do I need to reboot the silo to use the console port? Or flick the switch that resides on the Library Management Card?

Re: MSL6000 RS-232 connection
Ian:
Not to bump Leon's great answer, but you could add the 6000 to the LAN, assign it an IP address/mask/gateway and download all the logs over your network. It's what I do.
Standard 10BaseT/half duplex
