MSL6030 and Barcode Scan

I have an A-500 running HPUX 11i and connected to it is an MSL6030 with two Ultrium-2 drives.

# ioscan -funC autoch
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
=====================================================================
autoch 0 0/4/0/1.5.0 schgr CLAIMED DEVICE HP MSL6000 Series
/dev/rac/c5t5d0
Is my set-up.
I'm using DataProtector 5.1 and I have it set up in Devices and Media, but I don't seem to have the option to Barcode Scan.It's device type is a SCSI-II library, the scsi address is /dev/rac/c5t5d0, the repository is set from 0-27 slots. Is there anything I'm missing? Shouldn't it be able to barcode scan?

Re: MSL6030 and Barcode Scan

Ron,

Right-click on your library name in 'Devices&Media' tab of the DP GUI.

Choose properties and go to the 'Control' tab. Mark here the option 'Barcode Reader Support'.

Press apply and right-click again on the library name, now you will have the option 'barcode scan' too.

You've got to do a physical scan of already formatted tapes in DP to bind the DP labels to the new discovered barcode labels.

best regards,
Kurt

Simple yet effective. I just never saw it there. Thanks very much.
