I have an MSL6030 with library controller card and four drives. I would like to ask whether it is possible to connect two drives to a server and the other two drives to another server. If yes, will both servers be able to utilise the controller card for purposes of scheduled automated backups?

Solution
Yes, you can split the drives to two servers. If by the "controller card" you mean the tape changer or robotic device, the answer is no you can not control it from both servers. You need some kind of backup software to drive the robotic device and control the backup sessions in the library and the two servers.
Even if you were to assign the entire tape library to one server, you still need backup software. How would you handle the tape loading/unloading/changing during a backup if one tape got full?
