MSL6060 FC with Linux RedHat ES 4.0

I have one tape library MSL6060 connected in a server DL380 through an interface FC using the operational system Linux RedHat ES 4.0, but the Linux does not obtain to visualize the device. What it can be happening?

Thanks,

Re: MSL6060 FC with Linux RedHat ES 4.0

It may be that the system is not loading the FC HBA module or does not have it on the kernel, check with lsmod.

You have configured zoning on your switches and the zoning configuration is incorrect.

Check the status of the connections, ensure that all devices connected to the SAN have Link up.

Download also this utility:

Hi Ivan,

manufacturer: unknown
driver:none
device:/dev/sg0

but the device /dev/sg0 does not exist.

Re: MSL6060 FC with Linux RedHat ES 4.0

Try running the following:

cd /dev
MAKEDEV sg

Download and install sg3_utils for your red hat version, and run:

sg_scan -i
sg_map
sginfo -l

Also post the results of:

cat /proc/scsi/scsi

Re: MSL6060 FC with Linux RedHat ES 4.0

Cleber,

I had the same issue at several customers and ended up by adding a script that performs a 'hp_rescan' command during the startup of the server.

Just add the following lines to /etc/rc.d/rc.local:

#detect HP Ultrium drives
/opt/hp/hp_fibreutils/hp_rescan -a

best regards,
Kurt
