we have little problem with MSL8096 (LTO4).
Library displays attention message and sends warning mail:
"08.08.21 20:53:47.56 Attention: Cleaning cartridge nearly expired
Task originator: 0x00 - libctrl
From: 0x02 - storage slot
Number: 0x0F, 15"
So, we remove old and insert new cleaning cartidge (C7978A - orange), but library still displays same warning. We change cartrige again, but nothing changed.

Are you using barcode labels?
Do you get an error code on the library ?

Re: MSL8096 - cleaning cartrige
From the MSL web GUI:"Currently Installed Library Firmware 8.90 / 2.70e Drives: B45W"
I have read release notes, but fix between 3.40 and 3.60 is for MSL2024; fix between 1.80 and 2.00 is also for MSL2024 and fix between H36W and H44W is for FC 1840 drive.

SolutionSee HP customer advisory

Version: 1
ADVISORY: Erroneous cleaning cartridge nearly expired warning messages from the HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader or the HP StorageWorks MSL2024, MSL4048, and MSL8096 G3 libraries

This issue is fixed in the following firmware versions:

Re: MSL8096 - cleaning cartrige
Marc found it. The firmware bundle from December 2008 is the right solution.
