We have that DLT drive connected to A500. It can't be seen on ioscan output. I think that cabling & termination is OK, because I tested that by connecting ds2100 with same cable and terminator and that ds2100 was working properly. stape driver is in kernel and insf -e doesn't help. Does that DLT need any other drivers in kernel?

Solution
Drive is Differential. As you connect DS2100 I think controller is LVD (or SE).
Connection Diff device to LVD/SE card will not work and can damage equipment. Use FWD controller (A4800A) for this DLT drive. Consult server's user's guide
