New tape libraries and drives
these are the new ranges of tape libraries and drives...
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/storage/tapestorage.html
Thanks to Compaq, now we have SDLTs and AIT drives + libraries... And... 2nd generation of Ultrium drives finally came out, wow!
BUT...
As far as I can search... there is no DLT8000 autoloader available? The 1/9 is not there anymore... there are 2 DDS4 autoloaders (why 2?) and the 1/8 and 1/16 DLT1 autloader, but no DLT8000?? We have a lot of customers having the 1/9 or the older DLT8000 autloaders. I feel they are better than DLT1.
Any comments from HP and non-HP people alike?

Re: New tape libraries and drives
This was not good news for me, I need to upgrade a 2/20 library and, as I can find, no upgrade kits is avilable.

According to these notes, supported backup applications doesn't include OmniBack/Data Protector!
Also some of the smaller tape libraries aren't even supported on HP-UX yet!
methinks HPaq should have sorted this out *before* they binned the old products.
Where did I put that phone number for StorageTek...
Cheers!
