No compression with C1533a

I'm not getting compression of my backups and when I try to install the latest firmware the install tells me I have the wrong personality.
Any suggestions?

Re: No compression with C1533a

Are you familiar with the dip switches on the bottom of the drive?

The first two control how the system compresses the data. If they are both set to ON (I think, don't have the manual in front of me) then the drive compresses data, with host control. ie. by default the drive compresses data but your backup software has the option of turning it off.

That hopefully will fix the problem.

You also have to consider the type of data you are backing up. Data that's already highly compressed like zips, video files etc won't compress much if at all.

Reaching into the dim mists of time...........

Setting switch two on and the rest off sets it as Norman describes.

Where can I get a description of what the dip switches do?
