No tape drive after 11i install

After re-installing 11i on my RP8400, i can't see my tape drive.
so i check the kernel in order to find if the stape driver is enable (it wasn't), i enable it and reboot. Still no tape drive :
# ioscan -fnC tape
#

any idea ? i don't think about HW problem

Note i still have an old output (before re-installing) of the ioscan -fnC tape command :
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
===========================================================================

Re: No tape drive after 11i install

Even if stape wasn't installed you should still see a device at the correct address. It would just be unclaimed or unknown.

What does the ioscan look like for all devices along the H/W path 1/0/10

Re: No tape drive after 11i install

It sure looks like a hardware problem to me.

You didn't add, move or reconnect any devices or cables during the update?

The only other thing I would try is to be sure the latest 11i hardware enablement bundle is installed.

Re: No tape drive after 11i install

trying to install the HWEnable bundle 06/2004 from HP.com.
Everything seem to be already installed.

I asked hp support a patchgetconf command bundle after the 11i install.

does my problem come from that i enable the state driver after 11i install&patch ?

I'm going to check again the links ...

Re: No tape drive after 11i install

i linked the tape on the MP board (first it was on an SCSI card), does i have to reboot before doing ioscan ?

ioscan -fnC tape doesn't reply anything.

Re: No tape drive after 11i install

GREAT !!! i link the cable on diferent scsi chanel, and link back to the fisrt SCSI, then reboot, then power off power on the tape drive.

and now i have the ioscan output :
# ioscan -fnCtape
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
===========================================================================
tape 0 1/0/10/0/0/4/1.4.0 stape CLAIMED DEVICE HP C5683A
#

Now i only have to create the special files and make tests
