Ntbackup hp c1537a
Hi,
I have a problem with nt4 server, in combination with ntbackup and c1537a. I have scheduled ntbackup to run every night to backup some files. In the morning when i look if the backup was succesful there is this error message " An inconsistency was encounterd on the tape in drive 1 do not append to this tape " Before the backup began i have erased the tape. Ive even tried new ones. But the problem returns every time i start the backup.

Re: Ntbackup hp c1537a
Hello Luke,
please install HP Library and Tape Tools (LTT) available form www.hp.com;
- try running tests on your tapes;
- please make sure you use compatible tapes (recommended for test is new HP C5708A data tape);
- try cleaning drive. Please pay attention that DDS drives should be cleaned each 20 tape-pulling hours or after 5 days of full backup;
- check SCSI bus - cable, termination, adapter. Visit compatibility page at http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/compatibility/index.html

Re: Ntbackup hp c1537a
Luke, one more item to the list...
- update drive's firmware to the latest using LTT (go to File->Get Files from Web...->Firmware tab). Check http://productfinder.support.hp.com/tps/ProductFinder?h_lang=en&h_tool=software&h_query=C1537A (select C1554A).
