Overwrite tapes on SureStoreDAT40x6?

I'm backing up a W2K server to the SureStore using MS backup/removable storage. Now that all my tapes are full, I'd like to tell the software to OVERWRITE them. How do I make them available to backup again? Do I move them to a different media pool? Any pointers would be appreciated!

Hi,

If your using omniback, from within the application you can 'recycle' the tapes, so that they are not 'write-protected'.

Hi there.
You can set the option write protection in OmniBack for a certtain period. Replace permanent by a value in days.
It is in the backup editor under default options for file systems.

Thanks for your respones, but unfortunately I'm NOT using Omniback. I'm using the standard backup utility (and the Removeable Storage plugin) that comes with W2K. Anybody with any experience using this software?

hi
removable storage services take trace of the tape througt the label, so try cl rename the tapes and you will probably be free to reuse it
