Problem MSL6060

Hi Friends,

I have two library MSL6060 in an atmosphere SAN, formed like teacher - slave.

To this equipment, I have only connected servers Windows with Brighstor.

Make a backup of 8TB, you work normally for a moment, but soon the library MSL6060 - SLAVE displays the following message:

FAULT HANDLER

Fault Code 3013(soft)

Drive Fetch Failure

As I can solve this problem???

Regards,

Guido

Re: Problem MSL6060

Shalom Guido,

Seems the slave has lost contact with the master. There should be additional information in the master's log.

Re: Problem MSL6060

Guido,

Yes, please read the referenced thread for background on others having potentially similar problems.

However, let's keep your issue in this thread (the other is too long).

Did anything change that caused this error to start occuring?

Has it occured only once, or more than once?

Has any service (such as calibration or part replacement) been done yet?

What version of firmware in the MSL(s) is being used?

Re: Problem MSL6060

Pratish,

Perhaps the easiest way to update firmware in the MSL (as well as drives) would be to install HP Library & Tape Tools (www.hp.com/support/tapetools). If you have a windows host, the LTT user interface should be easy to use. You can use "File -> Get files from web" within LTT to automatically download the firmware file, or you can get them from the MSL support web pages under downloads for your particular OS.

You can also use the web interface of the MSL to update firmware, if LTT is not an option. You can find the firmware file posted on the MSL support web pages under "cross platform" downloads. However, here's a quick place to ftp them from:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/products/storageworks/msl/

Please answer the earlier questions if you could. Thanks.

Re: Problem MSL6060

1. Clear SRAM and retry....

2. If the above fails:

Are you sure that you are not currently at 5.13? What level firmware are you at?

5.13 is suspected of currently having this sort of issue. Downgrade to 5.07

3. If firmware is not at 5.13, problem may be with the shuttle assembly. I would recommend replacement of the assembly.

Re: Problem MSL6060

Hi everybody,

The problem repeats each weekend, the version of firmware is the following one: 5.13, and the version of the drive: G24.

These are the requirements that Brighstor needs, the calibration was made and in libreria master there is no error.

Re: Problem MSL6060

Guido,

Thanks for your infomation.

> The problem repeats each weekend.

The first question is whether the problem can be isolated to a particular (defective) tape.

If it happens on multiple tapes and the unit has had vertical calibration performed, then the current suspecion from engineering is a defective shuttle assembly.

Do you have a case number for your problem with HP? If so, I would like them to elevate the issue to engineering. We may want to exchange shuttle assemblies with one we've tested and then do an analysis on yours if it is the cause of the errors.
