Problem on SSL1016 Only See the Drive and not the Autoloader

Hi Everyone,

I have an HP StorageWorks SSL1016 tape autoloader connected to an HP Proliant DL580 G4 series. I am using Veritas Backup Exec 10.0 and for some reasons, it only can see the Tape drive but not the autoloader. Can somebody help me on this matter?

Hi Bong Cacho,

Do you mean that the server is a DL380G4, or a DL580G3? In either case the only integrated controller in these servers is a Smart Array 6i controller. If you have the autoloader attached to the 6i controller you will see only one of the 2 devices. The reason you see only 2 devices is becauase the Smart Array controller does not support multi-lun devices. If you have no other SCSI controller you will need to purchase a SCSI controller.
