Problem with Veritas BackupExec 8.6 in EBS solution with MSL5026SL in SAN jobs are put on hold with

We are running an backup SAN with two Novell NetWare 5.1 servers, a SAN switch 8-EL and MSL5026SL Super DLT tape library attached to an MDR. Compaq EBS with Veritas BackupExec 8.6. When a backup job runs it ends with an error (no specific argument) but the job is put on hold and no other tape rotation jobs can run until job is restarted or deleted. The ther server can thus not run its backup job.

Does it have anything to do with the autocleaning functionality of the tapelibrary, which might not be handled correctly by Veitas software? No time-out errors of partition on-hold errors, the job just gets put on-hold with no specific reason. After activating the job, it will run backup data to one or if needed two tapes and at the end return error message were job is again put on-hold. That means other servers cannot use the tapelibrary in the SAN.

Help!
W?re without backup for a month now!

Which server controls the DAMM?

What if you do not use tape rotation but define one job to one tape in the lib.

I don?t think that tape cleaning is the reason. Define a Cleaning slot and let the library take control of cleaning.

What happens if only the masterserver ist ONLINE (Veritas stopped - Maybe no fiber connect to?)

Double-Checked the firmware of the MDR??
