RMI access msl 2024 g3

I have an msl 2024 g3 series and I want to access web admin page and I can't do it.
I connected my notebook to ethernet rear port on msl and is like port is turn off, I can't see link when I plugg the cord and I tried with differents cords (crossover and direct) and nothing....
On OCP I enabled IPv4 (192.168.1.10 mask 255.255.255.0), dhcp is disabled, also ipv6 is disabled.
I tried with another notebook and nothing.
Finally I rebooted the msl 2024 and also nothing.
What can be happening?
On rear, between serial port and usb port there is a led that is blinking all the time (each one or two seconds).
Thanks

Re: RMI access msl 2024 g3

Did you try another (crossed) cable? Check if you are using proxy settings in browser.

Hope this helps!

Re: RMI access msl 2024 g3

yes I tested the configuration changing the cords and the passwords a twice.
Can be happening that msl 2024 hadn't been provided with the rear card (ethernet + serial + usb connectors), how can I test the serial and usb connector? or directly than ethernet port work fine?
Thanks
Torsten.

Re: RMI access msl 2024 g3

The USB is for updating firmware / storing support tickets only. Never used the serial.

If all settings/cables/etc. are OK, the card is maybe bad ...

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: RMI access msl 2024 g3

So, it isn't way to test ethernet port work fine, any led to check?
I'm thinking to install L&TT software, I've never used, do you know?, could this software help?

Re: RMI access msl 2024 g3

I have never tried connecting Ethernet directly but it should be able to work.

Are you using a laptop that has a static IP address in the 192.168.x.x range? Most of the time laptops running Windows will be DHCP and default to a 169.254.x.x IP address. For that address to work you need to set the library address to a 169.254.x.x and the subnet to 255.255.0.0.

There are LED's on the Ethernet port and if you plug the library into a hub or switch with activity on it then you should see activity on the library. You might not see much just plugging a laptop in directly.

Re: RMI access msl 2024 g3

On rear card there isn't a led of ethernet port.
I tested with your dhcp configuration but nothing.....
What about L&TT software? do you advice me to install it?
The msl 2024 is connected to a hp proliant dl 380 with windows server 2003 r2....

Re: RMI access msl 2024 g3

There are LED's on the Ethernet port. Are you hooked into the port on the library controller off to the side of the library? LTO-5 drives have an Ethernet port on them but it isn't currently enabled so if you plugged in there you wouldn't get anything.

I don't know that L&TT would be able to detect anything interesting about the Ethernet port. It would report the IP address but you can see that on the front panel as well.

Re: RMI access msl 2024 g3

My msl 2024 has only one lto4 drive.
Definitely I'm going to desist, I don't know how more to do.
Thank you for the advices.

Re: RMI access msl 2024 g3

Just to make it sure - do you use a crossed cable for your direct connection?

Hope this helps!

Re: RMI access msl 2024 g3

If you use a good known cable and a good known PC and you don't even get a link LED lit, the card in the library is likely bad and needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps!
