Reached DLT4000 capacity
System is a K580 and I would like to use the same SCSI board (28696A).
What would be a recomendation for replacement of the DLT4000? Currently we are recording 15gb a day on 20gb tapes. Soon to go to 25-30gb per day.

Re: Reached DLT4000 capacity
You could go to the DLT8000 with a capacity of 40GB or you could look at the SDLT320 ( http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/sdlt160320/index.html ) which has a 160GB capacity. The DLT8000 can probably be found on the used market fairly reasonable, the SDLT320 goes for around $8000.

Re: Reached DLT4000 capacity
Thanks for your help. I am looking at the DLT8000 as an option, and I know that it is compatable with the differential bus that I am running on now. I'm not, however, familiar with the SDLT 320. Will this run on a differential bus or is there and option, or will I need to upgrade the scsi bus?

Re: Reached DLT4000 capacity
Sorry for the delay. The moderators moved your question into the Storage area and I lost track of it.
I'm not sure if this is the only connection method or not, but I'm looking into the SDLT 320 for next year's budget and the quote I got included an A6828A PCI Ultra160 SCSI Adapter for $1000.

Re: Reached DLT4000 capacity
Thanks again for all your help. Seems as though the SDLT320 is a dead end. I can go with DLT8000, from research I've done, but not on the 28696A as it is not supported. I will have to upgrade the scsi interface to an A2969A HSC card. Runs at 12-15mb/s while the 28696A is 7-10mb/s.
