Refresh-problem with Compaq DDS4 20/40Gb DAT drive...

When I change tapes the system doesn't refresh the name of the current media. To solve this I go to the media folder of the DAT drive in MMC, eject en re-insert the tape and press refresh. How can I solve this?

I'm guessing your using NT Backup. Do you have the CPQ DDS 20/40 driver installed?

If you are using Omniback, re-scan the tape drive using the GUI, or using the following command:

omnimm -repository_update DriveName [ -slot SlotID ]

Michel,
in case you do not use any backup utility which installs its own driver (for example, if you use NT backup) then please make sure Removable Storage Management Service is started

If you are using ntbackup, different versions have different options.

On my NT 4 box I tried ntbackup /? which did spawn a help window.

Looking at the MS site, I found this info about XP...

The tapedrive is placed in a Compaq Proliant ML 370, running MS 2000 server(small busines server). The driver that is used for the drive is from MS 2000 Publisher and yes I use the NTBACKUP in 2000. I have downloaded a firmwareupdate and will try it out.

This is expected behaviour. You should use the eject tape wizard in the Computer Manager MMC. Otherwise Win2K doesn't realise that the tape has been ejected.
