Re: Repair C1533A
Hello,
sorry for my english.
You have any ways for restore.
1. If device is work (is determine) but not read tape in it case insert cleaning cartrige for cleaning head of drive.
2. If first point not help you, the best way is request you local HP-service center for repair it or bay non-warranty service for it device. But you can bay non-warranty service only after repair your device.

Efim

Re: Repair C1533A
Dear Maurice,
Your drive may well have some head wear problems. Repair of DAT drives is a very complex procedure and require specialist software and hardware to re-calibrate the drive if any components are replaced.
The only thing you can do is clean out any dirt or dust in the mechanism with a vacuum cleaner. I have seem some really choked up mechanisms. Then try the cleaning tape for around 3 -4 insertions.
If it is still failing then I would consider a replacement with a DDS-3 or DDS-4 drive as the DDS-2 is now obsolete.
