Replacement Product for DLT7000

Hello:

I have a DLT7000 on my server and want a decent replacement product since the DLT7000 is no longer being supported.

Which DLT would be best? Which would allow me to read my DLT7000 tapes?

I'm not sure dlt1 would read dlt7000, but should read dlt4000.

I think a SDLT would fit your needs also for the future, he can "read only" DLT7000 format

The VS80 can only read DLT 4000 format, not DLT 7000 format.

The only option you have is either DLT 8000 or SDLT220 or SDLT320.

DLT 8000 will use the same tapes, but not really be much of a performance or capacity upgrade.

SDLT will require new media for new backups, but will be able to read DLTtape IV carts written in DLT 7000 format, so you won't need to keep your DLT 7000 drives around for restores of old backups.
