Replacing Ultrium 460 with a 960 stand alone in a MSL6030

Hi

I currently have a MSL6030 Library with LTO-2 drive. I also currently have a standalone external LTO-3 drive (ultrium 960).

Now is it possible for me to remove the LTO-2 drive from the MSL6030 library; then remove the casing. The idea here is to use the casing for the LTO-2 drive and then take the external LTO-3 drive and mount it using the LTO-2 casing in order to be able to slide it into the MSL6030 library.

The only difference is that the back of the chassis for the LTO-2 drive includes wiring for 9 pins but the LTO-3 drive has 10 pins. But only 5 wires are used at one time.

How would I make the external LTO-3 drive work in the MSL6030 Library?

There was a similar question to this asked in this forum a few weeks ago:

The bottom line is: don't do it! - library drives go into libraries - standalone drives are standalone.

There are firmware differences, and mechanical differences, even if you managed to get it working, there would be no guarantee of reliability, and it would be unsupportable.
