Right tape for hp travan 5gb upgraded to 8 gb

Have upgraded 5gb to 8 gb with firmware 2.08.
Ordered new 8 gb tapes Imation Travan Black watch 8 gb. (says compatible travan NS 8gb,
and Travan 8gb). However the drive will not
accept these tapes. Accepts the old hp 5 gb tapes ok. Whats wrong ?

I suspect you haven't successfully upgraded. The upgrade process called for you to insert a new 8gb tape during the firmware flash. Do you know if this was done?

No, inserting new tape was NOT done !
But Win.me control-panel/system/tapedrives
states firmware 2.08.
Should I then upgrade firmware once more
or what ??

One other thing Eric. That firmware upgrade did not work in Windows ME. It was designed for 95 or 98

As far as I remember (it was some time ago),
I ran the firmware upgrade in dos-mode
(dos-program).

Remember now, ran a dos-program FLASH.BAT
which executed some epattdw.exe /db /de and then hpt4dos.exe.
Was this maybe not the thing to do ?

Ok, I see. Do I understand this upgrade
correctly:
If I boot win 95, and run the win-5gb to 8gb upgrade, it will work ?
If so, pls state the correct link for
download of correct upgrade.program.
