SAN Switch Firmware

We've got a couple older SAN Switch 8-ELs in our configuration. When we last changed the SAN around, I checked the HP web site and got the latest firmware for them - version 3.1.3a. I was checking for newer firmware just now and found that the latest shown is now 2.6.2b. I can't find any customer advisories or anything that pulled the 3.x release for these switches. Anybody know what's up here? Is running version 3 FabricOS on the 'EL' switches supported?

Re: SAN Switch Firmware

Mark,

there are "EL" (Entry Level, not Enterprise Level ;-) versions in the 1 GBit and 2 GBit models.

A "SAN switch 8-EL" is a 1 GBit model and uses version 2 firmware:

A "SAN switch 2/8-EL" can do 2 GBit, too and uses version 3 firmware:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?pnameOID=315088&locale=en_US&taskId=135&prodSeriesId=315086&prodTypeId=12169

Re: SAN Switch Firmware

Yup - that's the bit I was missing Uwe. I hate it when you have equipment you can't see and have no need to log in to but once every six months :-)
