SDLT 320

backup failed. Message is "Media is not in scratch pool".

I don't know what this means?

You don't mention the software, but it sounds like Veritas Netbackup. With Veritas (I think it was Datacenter 3.x I used), you had to manually add new media to what it calls a "scratch" pool. "Scratch" means "available for use" (roughly).

Unfortunately, I can't recall exactly how to do it. I don't mind doing the research if you can confirm it's Netbackup and tell the version and OS.

Thanks for the reply, the software we're using BrightStor ARCserve Backup version 11.

OS is windows server 2003
