SCSI Reserve/Release Setting
If you are using DDS with either of following operating systems, you need to disable the scsi reserve/release setting for DDS to function correctly:
тАв HP Tru64 UNIX
To disable the scsi reserve/release setting on HP Tru64 UNIX, use the scu command. For further information about using scu, refer to the scu man page.
This is what i got:
# scu -f /dev/ntape/tape0 preserve release
scu: 'persistent reserve out' failed on device 'SDLT320' at nexus [4/0/2]
scu: Sense Key = 0x5 = ILLEGAL REQUEST - Illegal request or CDB parameter,
Sense Code/Qualifier = (0x20, 0) = Invalid command operation code
# scu -f /dev/ntape/tape0 preserve reserve
scu: 'persistent reserve out' failed on device 'SDLT320' at nexus [4/0/2]
scu: Sense Key = 0x5 = ILLEGAL REQUEST - Illegal request or CDB parameter,
Sense Code/Qualifier = (0x20, 0) = Invalid command operation code
Now what; Ignore or Retry?
