(Oh and the RS-232 pin-outs are different for the Serial connections for the NSR cards and for the MSL controller card - nice one!)
BTW, the MSA-1000 connection settings are 9600 8 N 1, with Xon/Xoff.

Re: Serial connection settings for MSL6060 NSR
What is the wakeup command for these devices on this port? is it a reboot? or Ctrl-C? Or return pressed rapidly?
Cheers, Ian

Re: Serial connection settings for MSL6060 NSR
------------------
Setting up Serial Port Communications
This process can take up to 90 seconds. The Power On Self Test (POST) and initialization
information may not be visible on screen.
Connect the serial cable between the host computer serial port (COM1 or COM2)
and the router serial port.
Power on the router.
Power on the server.
Start the host terminal or terminal interface program (Windows 9x, NT 4.0, or
Windows 2000 HyperTerminal).
Set the terminal or terminal interface program to use the appropriate COM port.
Configure the selected COM port.
Baud Rate Autobaud, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, or 115200. Compaq recommends
setting the baud rate to 115200.
Data Bits 8
Stop Bits 1
Parity None
Flow Control None or XON/XOF
Press Enter several times. The router will automatically detect the baud rate
being used. The baud rate will be retained through future power cycles. The
baud rate in the terminal emulation program must be set at 9600, 19200, 38400,
57600, or 115200 to use the autobaud feature.

Re: Serial connection settings for MSL6060 NSR
I have submtitted a fault call for the pin-out settings so I can verify the cable is OK. Will post them once they materialise.

Re: Serial connection settings for MSL6060 NSR
After much pain because the NSR was not set to defaults I finally checked both cables and one has a label on the removable head shell that indicates it is the one for the NSR. Even the HP Engineer didn't see it when I logged a call on the whole issue.
Used that cable, connected to a laptop running Reflections off COM1 with the normal settings, powered up the library and out comes diagnosotics output and after that, away I went.
Standards are wonderfull things!
