Setting Compression remotely

Hello,
I have a PL1600 with an external 40/80 DLT. Can I set the compression ratio remotely? There isn't always someone there to push the button on the front of the drive for me. Is there a Compaq tool, like the ACU, or anything?
Thanks.

Re: Setting Compression remotely

It should be backup utility or driver capability to do it. For example, with NT backup you can use option "/hc:on" which turns on hardware compression (or should turn on, depending on driver and device)

Re: Setting Compression remotely

If you want to enable compression, you can run HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools and run the compression test. if compression is disabled, it will prompt you to enable it. If your question is he to change the compression ratio that is set on the front of the drive from the controller (be it remote or not) the answer is unfortunatley no.
