Slow Backups on SAS Tape Autoloader

I have just purchased an LTO4 Autoloader (SAS) and using backup exec 10d. When I do a backup I get throughput of only 967 MB/Min. Is this normal or should I expect More? As far as I know the drives are capable of backing up @ 80 MB/s.

This is what my architecture is: there are 6 servers and 4 PC's that I am backing up and they are connected to a backup server through LAN (10/100).

Thanks

Re: Slow Backups on SAS Tape Autoloader

Are you using Veritas / Symantec drivers instead of HP ones?
Ive found the best performance using Veritas drivers.

Also stop and disable the Removable Storage Service in Windows.

I have a customer with an LTO3 autoloader with 10d that gets upto 2GB/Min throughput so you can do better...

Re: Slow Backups on SAS Tape Autoloader

Ultrium 1760 = 160MB/s
Ultrium 1840 = 240MB/s

I have never seen this performace live the bottle neck is always the server here is a link for performance.

Also you can attacht a support ticket.

Re: Slow Backups on SAS Tape Autoloader

@ Mark...
I have RSM disabled and I did a LTT performance test and I got a throughput of almost 73MB/s. Here is how I back up...
Once production finishes I start back up using backup exec. It pulls data through LAN and then sends it to the autoloader...

I am attaching a ticket here...

Re: Slow Backups on SAS Tape Autoloader

Run a LTO drive assesment test to test this hardware.

Pablo...
Drive is able to read and write... Plus the Performance test is good... The Drive by all means looks good to me...
