Status of the MSL5000

How can I findout if the MSL5000 is doing any regular backup or not? if it doesn't do any backup, when was the most recent backup?
Can I connect to the device trough hyper terminal?

Re: Status of the MSL5000

You will need to look at whatever backup software your server is running.

If you want to see the library events and health then you could use the built-in GUI or install HP's Library and Tape Tools.

Re: Status of the MSL5000

By "your server" do you mean the server that MSL5000 is connected to or you mean the MSL5000?
Can we find the backup schedule (last time, next time) from the front screen/hyper terminal/console...?

Yes.

The Server (Proliant, SUN, IBM, HP, etc...)that has the backup software (Backup Exec, Netbackup, etc...) jobs controlling the library. The library doesn't have backup software installed on it.

No.

Re: Status of the MSL5000

The library does what the host wants - move tapes around, read, write.

The backup application on the server knows, what is currently running or not.

Hope this helps!
