Re: SureStore E Tape Library
There are two ways to remove the tape. First to
open the left hand door, press the button on
the tape drive (whcih should be amber) and wait
for the light to change to green. Once this is
done push the lever up and the tape will eject.
Send way is to use the 'mt -t /dev/rmt/1m rew'
and then 'mt -t /dev/rmt/1m offl' and then
use 'mc' to remove the tape.
This sounds more like symptoms to me, how did
the tape get placed into the drive in the
first place? What software is being used to
drive the backup? I have the same model and
and know many bad habits of this piece of
hardware.

Re: SureStore E Tape Library
The tape has never been in the tape drive. It is just left on the magazine but the LED on the front panel keep flashing with red light. After the load failure, the tape library still operate properly.
I want to change LED back to normal with green light.

Re: SureStore E Tape Library
Is the tape in the mailslot, a slot or in the
slot in the robot?
You should be able to open the door and take the tape out, or in the mailslot open the CAP door.
To reset the light, once you have removed the
tape press the reset button on the front panel.
You can only see the reset button once the
right side door is open.

Re: SureStore E Tape Library
But the LED keep flashing.
By the way, I can't find any reset button.
There is hard error and the suggestion is as follow:
1. Clear the tape path
2. Check host is idle, and power cycle the library.
What should I do, power off and on the tape library? I don't understand what is the mean by clear the tape path.

Re: SureStore E Tape Library
Clearing the tape path usually means remove
the tape from where it is stuck.
There is no problem power cycling the
tape library as long as there is no
backups scheduled or running.
BTW is you unit a 20/700 or something
else??

Re: SureStore E Tape Library
I didn't know which model of library you are using, but usualy running a recalibrate library clear temporaly hard errors.
