Surestore DAT 40 Internal Problems
I have a surestore DAT 40 internal an an NT4 Server with SP6.
Evey now and than it fails to do the back up with an error:
Storage device "HP 1" reported an error on a request to write data to media.
Error reported:
No more data is on the tape.
Before we had the 20Gb version but it was too small for our data.

Re: Surestore DAT 40 Internal Problems
I think you have the whole concept wrong. A DAT40 drive natively stores 20GB not 40GB. It achieves 40GB when it uses compression and assuming 2:1 compression. It depends what you storing on tape.
I guess when you said your 20GB version you meant a DAT24 which achieves 24GB compressed.(2:1)
be sure that the amount of data you have fits in the tape you have.

Re: Surestore DAT 40 Internal Problems
What are you using (software) to backup your NT?
How much data are you backing up, because a DAT40 will only store 20GB of data on a tape. The 40 represents the amount of data, if compressable in a 2:1 ratio, that can be stored on the tape.
