Surestore DAT24 recalibration error

I am using a Surestore DAT24 on a Windows 2000 server. My backup software is Arcserve.

I am getting errors on my backups. I ran the tape tools and it indicated I needed to recalibrate the drive. I ran the recalibration script and got the following error:

Script exception occurred
I/O Exception (Error 2408 - I/O: An unexpected Win32 error has been reported)
SCSI Cmd I/O at 2/0.3.0: Write Buffer

I'm not sure what this means, and am not sure what to do next. Help!

Re: Surestore DAT24 recalibration error

I'm fairly sure this is caused by problem with win2k sending down 1-byte transfers with the NT miniport driver(which this script does). If you install the older version of LTT (2.7 SR3b), you can install ASPI I/O mode during installtion. Then when you run the tool, select ASPI I/O on the splash screen. This will get around the problem. The SR4 version of LTT did not have the ASPI mode for win2k, as we were working to qualify a new version of ASPI specifically for win2k and XP (WNASPI 4.70). We will reintroduce the ASPI installer for win2k in our SR5 release.

You can get the older version of LTT from http://www.hp.com/support/tapetools

Re: Surestore DAT24 recalibration error

Unfortunately the link that Dave referred to is currently broken on our web site. Please use the following alternate location to download SR3b: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/information_storage/software/ltt_27sr3b_eng.exe

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: Surestore DAT24 recalibration error

FYI, the previous version link was fixed shortly after Jan's posting.

We also plan to release the SR5 version of LTT 2.7 within the week.
