Surestore DAT40i compression backup/out of tape space?
Hi,
I have a Windows 2003 server hosting SQL and Exchange 2003. I backup 18GB of data on a DDS3 (24GB), at the end I was ask to insert the second tape because tha data cannot accomodate to one single tape. How can I compress the data during backup?
SF

Re: Surestore DAT40i compression backup/out of tape space?
This is a good document to read:
http://h20015.www2.hp.com/hub_search/document.jhtml;jsessionid=JBRCB5FVOUGURQFIKSBENZQ?reg=na&cc=us&docName=lpg50244&lc=en
If you are getting 18GB on the tape then you are using compression (native, 1;1 compression will be 12GB on a DAT24) and it is likely the data types that are being backed up that are lowering the capacity. There might also be an issue with both hardware and software compression being employed.
