Surestore DLT 818 with DLT 8000 drive
When starting the device, the system detects the tapes but mentions on the display 'no drive'after his power-on check. The drive is a DLT 8000. Any ideas what that could be?

Re: Surestore DLT 818 with DLT 8000 drive
Try the following:
check that the fan is running on the back of the drive tray. If not then you probably have no power to the drive.
If the drive is powered up then it probably means that the diag cable is mis connected or not connected at all.
To check this you will need to unscrew the drive at the back and pull it out. Disconnect the drive power and the fan and take out the drive completely. Check that the diag cable is plugged in to the side of the drive into the connector nearest the front. It should be key wayed so you can't get it wrong. Once this is OK reconnect the diag cable to the autoloader, reconnect the power and fan and reinsert.
Try again.
Any problems give me a call 07782393784
cheers

Re: Surestore DLT 818 with DLT 8000 drive
The autoloader controller is not getting a response from the drive over the serial interface, and that results in the "No Drive" message.
The drive may not have power, it could be dead (i.e. firmware not running), it may be running into a power-on self test (POST) error, there may be a cabling issue with the serial interface, or their could be an electical issue on either the drive or autoloader side.
Was anything done to the unit when this started happening? Was a firmware update to the drive interrupted?
Have you tried power-cycling a number of times? Sometimes POST failures are intermittent.
Does the drive show up on the SCSI bus?
What firmware version in the autoloader (latest is 2.12).

The journey IS the reward.
