Surestore Dat40 Timeout
Most of the time our backups run fine, but every once in a while, during the backup, our drive timesout ang the job fails. Only the power light is on, on the drive, and I have to cycle the power to eject the tape. What might be causing this?

What server do you have and what SCSI controller?

Re: Surestore Dat40 Timeout
Fully agree with Lewis. See HP recommended HBAs at http://www.hp.com/cposupport/information_storage/support_doc/lpg50063.html . As soon as problem is intermittent I would suspect active component (controller/drive) not cable/terminator.
The best for you now is to try controller from the list: AHA-2940UW or AHA-29160lp. You may find HP LTT useful: http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/ltt/index.html
