Surestore T20xi issue

I have a HP Surestore T20xi internal tape drive on a Dell server running Win200. We are using ntbackup with batch file that refreshes RSM and then backs up drives.

Initially it works well but after few days RSM stops refreshing and backup errors out as "no media available". I can bypass it by going into computer management panel and updating removable storage. This works well for few days and stops working until I have to reboot the server. Few times rebooting server does not work but shutting it down and taking data strip out of SCSI controller and reconnecting works.

Has anyone faced similar issue and can spare tips. Thanks.
