Surestore Ultrium 215

I've been using the surestore ultrium 215 for about 6 months with Veritas backup exec. The speed is great and I really like the drive. The annoying thing is that when the drive wants to be cleaned it will stop the backup job and eject the tape and request the cleaner tape. Is there any way to have the backup complete BEFORE kicking out the tape? I'm losing a backup every 3 - 4 weeks due to this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is not normal for an Ultrium 215 tape drive. It should not need cleaning this much. I suggest you run the HP Library & Tape tools utility and generate a support ticket for the HP Customer Care Centre. There will be information in your drive logs which should diagnose the problems.
What is your firmware revision please?

Thanks for the reply. The current firmware version was N16D. I have since updated it to N23D. I'll see if this fixes the issue. If not, I'll generate a support ticket.
