Tape Backup
What is the storage capacity of a DDS4 20/40gb?
I would like to know with and without compression.
I'm trying to backup a server that contains approx. 25gb using compression and the 1st tape is always ejected requesting a 2nd one.
Thanks,
Lucie C.

Re: Tape Backup
It's 20 GB without compression and 40 GB with compression.
How did you enabled compression ?
what is your OS and server ?

Re: Tape Backup
Hi,
Please note that compression ratio is very data dependant. The 2-1 ratio you need for 40 GB is only an average and perhaps best apply to plain ascii files. With different data you can get everything from no compression at all (if data is already compressed on disk) to 10-1 or better (log files or empty database files).

Re: Tape Backup
OS = Windows 2000
MetaFrame XP
Backup software = NT Backup, so I enable the compression through NT backup software.
Thanks!
