Tape Drive Has Detected Faulty Media (4)/Drive rejected load of tape (15)

We have seen a few, intermittent Tape Drive Has Detected Faulty Media (4), Drive rejected load of tape (15) messages in our Drive/Media Log (and have ???amber light??? messages on the front panel of our tape library).

The messages are not consistent to one media and there have been no requests received to run the cleaning tape. We use Ultrium 1 LTO 200GB media and the max writes to any of the media used (relating the media by the dates of these errors) is 22 writes, so we feel the media is relatively new.

However we are concerned that due to the fact we did receive these errors, they should not be ignored. We have run a wellness check and found nothing as a result.

There have been no failed backups (great news) but we do not look forward to possible failures due to issues that need to be resolved.

Other checks include: Library Hard Error Log: No entries in log, Library Soft Error Log: No entries in log, Cleaning Status: Ok

Can anyone point me to a doc as to how to further troubleshoot these error messages (such as what do the numbers stated parenthetically mean)?

Install HP LTT and attach support ticket for library

I checked out the site you recommended but it seems to be for "Nearline" products. We have a HP Sure E Tape Library and use HP Ultrium tapes...will this download still provide us with tools we can use?
