Re: Tape autoloader

Did you get any error message??
Also, see if you get any information here.

Re: Tape autoloader

Etienne,
what operation were you performing, when the error happened (move tape/backup..)?

Where did you see the error 132 (logfile/control panel)?
This information would help tracking down the exact error condition.

Re: Tape autoloader

hi Peter,
this error 132 was on the control panel of the autoloader.
first backup was done successfully, and it was before my second backup (log shows that it has never began).

Re: Tape autoloader

What does following simple command say?

mt -f /dev/rmt/0m stat
Assuming that device is 0m.

Also, what does STM say about it? Anything in syslog.log and dmesg?

Re: Tape autoloader

hi !
well, mt -f answers correctly : tape model...it's OK
BUT resdata shows
severity "critical"
monitior "dm_stape"
summary : Disk at harware path 10/4/16.3.0 : device connectivity or hardware failure....

problem is at the time of the error message, nobody could have powered off or disconnect the autoloader.....could it be a scsi bus failure ???
if yes, why does the mt -f answer correctly now ??

Re: Tape autoloader

It could be on account of many things. Physical env, scsi reset, loose cables/connectors, loose/bad terminator. Physical inspection and power cycling it and checking it with STM should give something to start with.
