Tape drive Model C1504-60001

I have been trying to find product information on this drive.
The drive was manufactured 07/93, so is very old.
Please advise if there is any service, product information avalable.

Thankyou.

Re: Tape drive Model C1504-60001

Bob,

Is this an internal DDS drive from a server
or from an external drive? If from a external
could you give the product number?
This is a DDS1 drive with a 2-4GB capacity
depending on the type of data.
IF you could find another part number, I could
do more-it may be an OEM drive that someone
has purchased from us and has loaded special firmware on it.

Re: Tape drive Model C1504-60001

Thanks for the prompt response.
This is an external drive identified on the case as a Jetstore 5000. It looks
like it is in the original casing, but I couldn't be sure.
The model is as detailed above.
Other information, TRACK: DB061386
+5VDC 0 5A +12VDC 0 6A
MADE IN UK
E139285 93 07 011 LR 58239.
At the rear, above the connectors, on the underside of the casing over the
device selector jumper pins, there is a label marked DK4-SS4001, and also
marked Mitsumi Elec, Co.
On the underside of the drive there is an 8 switch block.
I can't give you any more info.
Hope that is enough.
Regards.

Re: Tape drive Model C1504-60001

Bob,

Jetstore 5000 is a DDS1 device with a capacity of
2-4 GB. Unless there is a product number such as
C1521B somewhere on the case, it sounds like you
have a HP C1504 mechanism or a OEM mechanism in a
third party cabinet. The part is no longer available
and a newer DDS2 part C1539-67204 is used for
replacement. The list price is $1100 (here in USA)

Your best bet would be to contact your local HP office
in the UK and see if they have any alternatives
for you. There may be a mail in facility over there.
It may be much cheaper to buy a new drive.

Re: Tape drive Model C1504-60001

The model number for the whole assembly is C1524E
and the serial number is 3319E04105.
I am looking st this for as a favour for a charity that I support.
They have no funs to replace this with a new unit.
If I can get hold of some information re leds, jumpers and dip switches, I
might be able to get it working.
Thanks anyway for your help and advice, I thought it would be a long shot whaen
I couldn't find anything easily.
