Tape drive faulty (urgent)
Now I am facing tape drive faulty problem. All the led light is blinking! (There are 3 led lights. 2 green and 1 orange colour). I cannot eject the tape. Any solution?
My tape drive serial number is Seagate Dat 06240-xxxHJ0932s.
regards

Re: Tape drive faulty (urgent)
try this command to eject tape:
# mt -f
if still cannot, call HP engineer for support, if you have any.

Re: Tape drive faulty (urgent)
Mostly your tape drive has gone for a toss.
Hope this tape drive is an internal one. Once you restart the server, you will be able to eject the tape and those errors will go off. Then use a cleaning catridge to clean the tape (even though it doesn't look like a cleaning problem).
Try backing up some small files. If the problem persists, its time to call the HP engineer as Joseph has suggested.
with best wishes

Re: Tape drive faulty (urgent)
Also when you got the tape out and have the cleaning done don't forget to give other tape (Brand New) a chance before calling the HP engineer.
In some cases this also happens bcos of the media.

Re: Tape drive faulty (urgent)
#mt -f
See what it returns.
One unofficial suggestion would be doing power cyle of the Tape Drive.
