Tape drive light flashing

I have a proliant 3000 Server with internal tape drive. Just the other day the led lights came on and started flashing. We powered down the srever hoping this would fix the problem, but didn't. Any ideas?

Re: Tape drive light flashing

This happened to me when i had inserted tape and the drive's tape leader was not able to pull the tape, it was broken. Changed and it worked normally afterwards.
Suggest to check for the same.

Re: Tape drive light flashing

You should probably dig in to HP's site for your specific tape drive model's manual for the meaning of the lights. In other words, not all proliant 3000s will necessarily come with the same model tape drive. If it happens to be an internal DLT vs80, then it's here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?locale=en_US&taskId=101&docIndexId=179911&contentType=SupportManual&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=63898

In the manual, it's called "Interpreting the Front Panel Lights".
