Tape media error in Hp storageworks 1840 sas

Hello

I am facing problems in the above model of
HP tape device .
When i try to format the tape in the drive
it shows media error.

As i had stopped the previous job manually so i think the error is for the same

Please suggest me a solution to format the tape and use it from start.

When you say you stopped the job manually, what exactly did you do?

Is this happening with a single cartridge, or with several?

Can you also confirm if you tried to format the tape on another tape drive?

I have formated the tape in the same drive.
My vendor when he installed the tape drive
and at the time of the first format he power offed the tape drive in between because it was taking more time.
Now when i try to identify or format the tape it shows media error .
so what could be the reason behind this
should i need to buy a new tape or data protector express is a problem.
