Tape vill not autoload

The enviroment is Windows NT4 SP6a, BackupExec 8.5 Build 3571. It is connected to a Proliant 3000. When starting backup it will not load tape, unless we do a manual scan of tapeslots first. The Autoloader starts inventory when we insert the tapes but Backup Exec does not update the information from the tape drive.
