The media was not prepared for boot with HP's One-Button Disaster Recovery (OBDR)

OK _ I thought this issue was sorted but I have checked the backups and I am still getting it

I am running a brand new server 2003 32 bit R2 patched server. The server is a ML350 G5

With
Data protector 3.50 sp2
bare metal disaster recovery
exchange agent
open file agent

I am doing a full backup of the main server with the tape drive attached including data protector express, system files, and data files.

I am licensed on a second server for
Open file agent
exchange

I have disabled the windows disaster recovery service and the database service of the second PC.
I have enabled datastream and device service on the second server.

On the main server I have all four services enabled.

I have checked under options, advanced options,
create dr bootable media
update dr information on selected server

I am using a HP LTO Ultrium 3 tape drive with HP tapes.

I have done several complete backups to different tapes and get this error every time

If I try and create a disaster recovery CD I get the error
No disaster recovery image could be located

Re: The media was not prepared for boot with HP's One-Button Disaster Recovery (OBDR)

Hi David:

Could you check if the Data Protector Express Disaster Recovery Agent is enabled?

For Example,

1. Open DPE gui
2. From the Administration desk bar select Catalog.
3. Select the Folder Icon at the top of the DPE window.
4. In the Folders column:
A. Expand the Network item (click
the "+" to the left).
B. Expand the Computer that the Agent
is loaded on (click the "+" to the
left).
C. Highlight Services.
5. In the right pane of this window, right
click the Disaster Recovery Agent,
and select Run.
6. Select from the tool bar menu -
View -> Refresh to update screen

Re: The media was not prepared for boot with HP's One-Button Disaster Recovery (OBDR)

There are 4 services
Database Service
Datastream Service
Device Service
Windows Disaster recovery agent

All 4 services are running on the main server. On the SBS server there are only two services running

Datastream Service
Device Service

This is because I did not purchase Windows Disaster recovery agent for the SBS server.

I cannot right click and choose start - I only have the option to stop Windows Disaster recovery agent.

Re: The media was not prepared for boot with HP's One-Button Disaster Recovery (OBDR)

Hi David:

If I understand your issue correctly, are you trying to create a disaster recovery CD on your Microsoft Small Business Server machine?

You indicated in your last reply that you don't have disaster recovery agent on your Microsoft Small Business Server machine. This would make it impossible to create a disaster recovery CD on this server since it is not licensed with the disaster recovery agent.

Please clarify your licensing situation if I have incorrectly understood your situation.

Re: The media was not prepared for boot with HP's One-Button Disaster Recovery (OBDR)

OK here is what I have

Data protector 3.50 sp2
bare metal disaster recovery
exchange agent
open file agent

Here is what is installed on the MAIN SERVER

Database Service
Datastream Service
Device Service
Windows Disaster recovery agent

All 4 services are installed, Licensed, andrunning on the main server.

On the SBS server there are only two services running

Datastream Service
Device Service

I am licensed on the SBS server for
Open file agent
exchange

I DO NOT WANT DISASTER RECOVERY ON THE SBS SERVER.

THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANT

I HAVE PAID FOR Windows Disaster recovery agent ON THE MAIN SERVER.

IT IS INSTALLED

IT IS RUNNING

IT IS LICENSED

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM
