I'd like to know if it is possible to disable the hardware compression on this type of device (SCSI connected on WIN 2000)?

You have to do this in your backup software. Fe ntbackup (not the best but will do a backup) you have a /hc:on (hardware compression on) commandline option.

Thanks - I was hoping for some configuration tool that would allow me to do this, but your answer has given me an idea!

I'll set the drive parameters myself from within my own program.
