USB DAT 72 IO Error
Hello!
I have a new USB DAT 72 drive and am using the supplied Data Protector Express software on Windows XP Pro SP2.
Each time I try a backup all seems to work well at first but, at some stage during the verify process, the backup programme stops the job with "Media Error 4024: IO failure".
I've tried different tapes and the usual multiple reboots etc.
Any ideas gratefully accepted.
Thanks
Richard

Re: USB DAT 72 IO Error
Richard, as a starter verify that you do have USB 2.0 ports and that you are not connected to a hub.

Re: USB DAT 72 IO Error
Thanks Lewis, there is a possibility that we have a solution and you're not far off. We added a PCI USB2 card specifically to run this tape drive and it does work at USB2 speeds but we get these errors. In desperation(!) today I moved the device onto one of the original USB2 ports on the PC and it has now fully completed a backup, which suggests that the new card (or the PCI slot) is faulty.
I'll update this thread when I have more news.
Thanks again.

Re: USB DAT 72 IO Error
After several backups all is now well - it does appear to have been a faulty USB2.0 card that permitted the backup process but was unreliable on the verify....
Ah well, that's life!
