Ultrium 1 issue

We have the following issue,will appreciate your help:
We are have (2)Ultrium-1 autoloaders connected to a Novell 6.0 backup server running Backup Exec 9.0. Daisy-chained.The devices get detected by the OS and the BU software with no problem. After we schedule BU jobs, the first Autoloader runs fine, but the entire process hangs when it gets to the 2nd. We also installed a separate 29160 SCSI controller and had the 2nd Ultrium connected directly to it (no daisy-chain)--Same issue.
Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this?
